Two new reports are published – welcome to the online release event!

On Tuesday 9.9.2025 at 14–15:30 (EEST) Finland’s first reports will be published on the ecological contents of Finnish film and TV, and how “ecological themes” interest Finnish viewers. This event will be in English, and the Finnish release event is held earlier in the day, at 9:30 (EEST).

The research work by Audiovisual Producers Finland – APFI included watching a total of 103 hours of films and TV shows from 2024 and collecting the impressions of 1,003 Finnish viewers. The two reports form a new comprehensive view of environmental sustainability in the industry: how are the themes already present in the content, and what do Finnish viewers think about the environmental responsibility of content? The purpose of the reports is to provide the industry with new insights and tools for development.

The reports were prepared in collaboration with students of sustainable development at Häme University of Applied Sciences, Innolink, Filmiaura Association, and the Finnish Television Academy.

Since 2021, APFI has been promoting nationally sustainable practices in the audiovisual industry, and now the work has been expanded to sustainability on-screen. The reports are a key part of APFI’s environmental sustainability development project, which is funded by the NextGenerationEU-program, via the Ministry of Education and Culture (2024–2025).
