Helsingin kaupunki, Business Oulu, Business Tampere ja APFI järjestävät yhteistyössä XYZ Filmsin kanssa av-alan ammattilaisille ja opiskelijoille tarkoitetun käsikirjoittamisen masterclassin.
Masterclass-vieraina ovat ohjaaja-tuottaja-käsikirjoittaja Tommy Wirkola (NO), käsikirjoittaja April Wolfe (US), sekä käsikirjoittaja-ohjaaja Leon Hendrix (US). Moderaattorina toimii XYZ Filmsin yksi perustajajäsenistä, tuottaja Aram Tertzakian (US).

Speakers’ bios:
Tommy Wirkola
Tommy Wirkola is a Norwegian film director, producer, and screenwriter of Finnish heritage. Wirkola is best known for the Dead Snow series and What Happened to Monday, which starred Noomi Rapace and Willem Dafoe. He is currently in post-production on The Trip, a Norwegian-language Netflix original thriller starring Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie.
April Wolfe
April is a screenwriter, podcast host, and former film critic. A Michigander in Los Angeles, she focuses on genre film and television, with an emphasis on thrillers, science fiction, action, crime, and horror (with comic flourishes). April is the creator and host of the wildly popular podcast Switchblade Sisters. She produced the 2015 indie feature Molly Takes a Trip. In 2019, she co-wrote the feminist slasher Black Christmas from Blumhouse/Universal, which was released on 2,600 screens in the United States.
Leon Hendrix
Writer-director Leon Hendrix was born and raised on the southside of Chicago. He is an acclaimed writer, having completed writing fellowships for Film Independent, Fox, Universal Pictures, and the Academy of TV Arts and Sciences. His script White Devils made The Hit List and The Black List in 2017, and he’s attached to write and produce a feature adaptation of his horror short story Albatross with Skybound. Leon specializes in dramas and genre stories that push new cultural perspectives into the mainstream.
Aram Tertzakian (moderator)
Aram Tertzakian is co-founder of the California-based movie production/sales company XYZ Films LLC and co-owner of the movie news website twitchfilm.com. Tertzakian co-founded XYZ Films in 2008 alongside partners Nick Spicer and Nate Bolotin. Before founding XYZ Films, Aram primarily focused on creative development, having held various positions for a diverse group of filmmakers such as director Alexander Payne, producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy, and producer Ted Field. Aram received a Master of Fine Arts from the UCLA Producers Program in June 2007. He completed his undergraduate study at Georgetown University, majoring in English with a focus on Film.
XYZ Films aloitti tammikuussa Helsingin kaupungin, Business Oulun ja Business Tampereen kanssa yhteistyön edistääkseen suomalaisen audiovisuaalisen alan kansainvälistymistä monipuolisesti. Keskeinen osa yhteistyötä on levittää parhaita käytäntöjä ja tuoda kiinnostavia osaajia kertomaan työskentelytavoista. Tätä varten on kehitetty Masterclass-luentojen sarja, joissa käsitellään käsikirjoitusta, työskentelyä kansainvälisissä tuotannoissa, uusien asiakkaiden (kuten Netflix ja Amazon) tarpeita sekä tuotantojen rahoittamista. Luennot on suunnattu alan opiskelijoille ja ammattilaisille ja niitä voidaan hyödyntää osana oppilaitosten koulutustarjontaa.
