US WEBINAR ON ANIMATION

Audiovisual Producers Finland – APFI in collaboration with Finnanimation will organize a US Webinar on Animation on Thursday October 8th at 19.00 EEST joined by speakers from the United States, who will provide insight into the animation market in the US and what opportunities there are for Finnish producers.

They will also speak about the current state of the US animation and kids content industry, what does the future hold, what will change and what will stay the same in the genre, and what is the scope for international producers to access the US market and the ways this might be possible.

The webinar is produced by Percy & Warren PR who organized the APFI’s well-received Understanding the TV Trade in the UK -webinars, hosted by Jeremy Dickson, Features Editor at Kidscreen and co-hosted by Alexander Ross and Holly Miller, TV and Entertainment Consultants at Percy & Warren.

Speakers bios:

Catie Asip

Catie Asip serves as senior associate, content for children’s programming at PBS, where she oversees new series development. She works with series creators from pitch to pilot, helping shape their projects for the PBS KIDS audience. She also serves as production executive for a number of current PBS KIDS series, including Clifford the Big Red Dog and Pinkalicious & Peterrific. A Florida native and Hollins University alumna, Asip joined PBS in 2016.

David Kleeman

Strategist, analyst, author, speaker, connector — David Kleeman has led the children’s media industry in developing sustainable, child-friendly practices for 35 years. He began this work as president of the American Center for Children and Media and is now Senior Vice President of Global Trends for Dubit, a strategy/research consultancy and digital studio.

When he began this work, “children’s media” meant television. Today, he is fascinated by, and passionate about, kids’ wide range of possibilities for entertainment, engagement, play and learning. David uses research, insights and experience to show that much may change, but children’s developmental path and needs remain constant.

David is advisory board chair to the international children’s TV festival PRIX JEUNESSE, Board Vice President for the National Association for Media Literacy Education, and on the board of the Children’s Media Association and the Advisory Board of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center. He was a Senior Fellow of the Fred Rogers Center.

When we used to travel, David looked worldwide for best practices in children’s entertainment and learning. He has spoken (and, more important, listened!) on six continents and writes extensively for varied audiences.

Dennis Kostyk

Dennis Kostyk is the President of Kostyk Communications Inc, a consulting firm with diverse clients in the media and entertainment industries.  Dennis has 30 years of senior responsibility in the development of television and video companies, including corporate start-up and turnaround activities for diverse organizations in the fields of film/video production, animation, distribution and media networks. 

He has significant hands-on experience in management, financing, strategic planning and the tactical implementation of business models for organizations facing change and reorganization.
